Why Anthony Martial started for Manchester United and Cristiano Ronaldo is on the bench vs Everton

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he is looking to freshen things up after naming an unexpected Manchester United line up to face Everton.

United are back in Premier League action on Saturday lunchtime when they host Everton at Old Trafford in the lunchtime kick-off and have made five changes from their last outing.

Solskjaer's side saw their unbeaten start to the new league campaign come to an end against Aston Villa last weekend but bounced back from defeat with a dramatic victory versus Villarreal in midweek.

United will be hoping for a more convincing victory when they face Rafa Benitez's side and speaking ahead of the match Solskjaer has explained his team selection for the match.

"Well Wednesday night was a big effort, big emotional and physical output so we needed to freshen it up for the early kick-off," he told MUTV. "The start of this game is going to be very important, we've got some very good players coming in. It's a team that we believe is going to take charge."

When asked if the likes of Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani have a point to prove in the match he added: "Point to prove? There always is when you're on the pitch. They know they are good players, they know they are going to be very important for us. If we are to be successful this season we need to rotate, manage the minutes, we need to make sure we are a big squad and we are together. Everyone is ready for the kick-off."
