Why Ander Herrera is not playing for Manchester United vs Wolves and Anthony Martial is a substitute

Ander Herrera will miss Manchester United's fixture against Wolves on Tuesday night through injury, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed.

The Norwegian coach has named six changes from the side which defeated Watford at the weekend with Herrera one of the players to miss out for the trip to Molineux.

Marcus Rashford is also missing the match through injury, while a slight knock to Anthony Martial has reduced his involvement to a place on the bench.

Scott McTominay and Fred have both come into United's three-man midfield with Nemanja Matic also missing out from the starting line up.

And speaking ahead of kick-off, Solskjaer confirmed the team news for the Premier League fixture.

"Some of them (changes) you have to make." Solskjaer told MUTV.

"Ander, Rashy, they weren't fit for the game. Anthony got a knock as well, we think he will be able to come on if needed. With Scott and Fred we have got fresh legs and energy, so hopefully we can benefit from that."

United travelled down on Monday night for the match against Wolves, and Solskjaer also revealed how that change was inspired from their FA Cup defeat against the same opponents prior to the international break.

"We hope so, we have gone down here last night. Last time we went in the morning. It is not superstition but we didn't want to make the same mistakes we did then, and hopefully we won't do that on the pitch either."
