Why Amad is on the bench for Manchester United vs West Ham

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is confident Amad can have an influence on Manchester United's FA Cup fifth-round tie with West Ham if he's needed off the bench.

The 18-year-old is in a matchday squad for the first time since his £37million move from Atalanta and with five substitutes available in the FA Cup he could make his debut.

Solskjaer believes the teenager could come on and change the game if required, suggesting a first senior appearance for the club isn't dependant on United reaching a comfort zone against the Hammers at Old Trafford.

“He’s been bright since he came, he did really well in the reserve games. He’s a player who can create something out of nothing so he’s on the bench to make an impact if we need to," Solskjaer told MUTV.

United have made six changes in total from the team that drew with Everton, with Dean Henderson, Alex Telles, Nemanja Matic, Fred, Donny van de Beek and Anthony Martial coming in.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on the importance of ending the trophy

Solskjaer said: “Paul [Pogba] was inured, Alex has played really well so we felt he needed a game, Dean has done really well in the cup games, Nemanja in for Scott, Edinson and Bruno get a little break but more than ready to come on if they need to, but Donny and Anthony are more than good enough to influence and affect the game."

It's a landmark night for Marcus Rashford and Martial, who both play their 250th game for United and they are reunited with Mason Greenwood in attack.

“We hope they’re going to hit form, we’ve seen the three of them last season, this year we’ve added Edinson to give us more competition. It’s good to see them together again and good to see Donny with them, I don’t think they’ve played as a front four before," said Solskjaer.
