Why Adam Forshaw is missing from Leeds United's squad to face Barnsley

Leeds United were forced into one change for the Yorkshire derby clash on Sunday lunchtime, with Jamie Shackleton coming in for Adam Forshaw.

The change was something as a surprise following Marcelo Bielsa's latest injury update in his Friday press conference, when he revealed that Luke Ayling, who will continue his comeback from injury with the under-23s this week, was the only absentee.

Forshaw will miss out owing to a minor hip injury however, with the 27-year-old failing a late fitness test.

The midfielder has travelled with the squad to Oakwell and is expected to recover in time for next Saturday's early kick-off against Derby County.

His absence means that Shackleton makes his first Championship start of the season, while Tyler Roberts makes the matchday squad for the first time this season following an injury that has kept him out since the end of last season.

A win for Leeds in South Yorkshire will see them return to the top of the table.
