One message was emanating loud and clear from the Radio Festival in Salford yesterday: achieving digital radio switchover will be just like... jumping off a cliff. Together. Holding hands. Over to you, BBC radio boss Tim Davie: "I also think it's critical as the Radio Centre and others have said that when the radio industry does jump to digital, it jumps together." Ashley Tabor, Global Radio boss, also took up the cliff jumping theme: "We have to do this together. If you are going to jump off a cliff together then hold hands while you do it." However, as every fan of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid knows: "The fall will probably kill you."
