Why Aaron Wan-Bissaka's Crystal Palace teammates knew he would succeed at Manchester United

The success Aaron Wan-Bissaka has had since joining Manchester United is no surprise to those who played alongside him at Crystal Palace.

That's according to former teammate - and ex-Manchester United player - Wilfried Zaha, who has revealed the full-back's nickname of 'The Spider' was often used at Selhurst Park.

Zaha said he was pleased that Wan-Bissaka was now getting the recognition he deserves. The 22-year-old has enjoyed a stellar debut campaign since United agreed a £50million transfer to take him to Old Trafford.

Zaha was asked during a recent live Q&A with fans which player was the hardest to face in training and said: "Aaron. He is very good, so hard to get past him.

"Have I watched him at United? I've watched a few games, what I thought of him is what I thought before.

"Everything that people are saying now - calling him 'The Spider' - we knew before, it is just that he is playing in front of the world now.

"We were saying it all before but it is nice to see the world know it now."

Wan-Bissaka has made 34 appearances for United in all competitions this season, immediately becoming a mainstay in Solskjaer's team.

He has performed well in a number of key games this season, particularly against Man City and Raheem Sterling, and received widespread plaudits for his tackling and ability to win 50-50 duels.
