Why a Steelers rookie’s dad had to redecorate his bathroom after the NFL Draft

Former Michigan State cornerback Justin Layne grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, as a diehard Browns fan, but his family had to do some redecorating after Layne was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 83rd pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Layne’s father, DeAndre, painted his Browns-themed bathroom in Steelers colors following the draft.

Layne said in a video for Steelers.com that despite his ties to Ohio, he’s “done” with the Browns.

“My dad, he had the whole bathroom painted. He was a diehard Browns fan. He went to Home Depot, he sent me a picture. All that’s gone. He’s painting it right now…. I’m done [with the Browns].”
