A powerful dredger is heading to Burry Port this summer to speed up work at the town's harbour.
Dredging is already underway at the Carmarthenshire seaside town as part of plans to revamp the boating facilities.
The more powerful vessel, which also has a crane for pontoon repairs, will take over later in the summer.
The Marine Group - the company behind the plans - has also amended its design of the historic marine house building.
It said an application to overhaul the building would be submitted shortly to Carmarthenshire Council, following feedback from planning officers.
The revised design aims to focus more on the preservation of the current building.
It will continue to be home to the marina office and will also feature wash rooms and a laundry room - plus a public cafe and start-up business units.
Christopher Odling-Smee, of The Marine Group, said: "We are pleased to now have the capital dredging works underway and are satisfied that this is progressing per our programme.
"This is a significant campaign which will see the harbour’s minimum depths achieved later this year."
The harbour has 450 berths and is expected to cater for 15-metre length vessels. Fuelling facilities are also planned.
Mr Odling-Smee added: "In support of our vision of a thriving harbour, we are delighted to be shortly submitting our planning application for a new marina building."
He said the aim was to build the new harbourside facilities next year.
The marina building used to be home to the RNLI, but it has a new station at the harbour.
Mr Odling-Smee added that the council was developing proposals to repair the harbour walls.
The Marine Group said it would work closely with the authority and the contractors to ensure minimal disruption to the marina.
The council has wider regeneration plans for the harbour area. A 2.8-acre site nearby has approval for a leisure and retail-led project which could comprise shops, restaurants, a hotel and new housing.
