Why a police helicopter was circling Swansea last night with officers searching near the M4

A large scale police search took place in a Swansea community last night after officers became concerned about the welfare of a man.

The police helicopter flew over Penllergaer, circling the area, looking to locate the man concerned, whilst officers were spotted searching bushes in the area.

Two police vans also blocked the lanes at Penllergaer roundabout while the activity took place.

Many living in the area expressed their concern on social media about the welfare of the individual who the search was focused on, as the police investigations continued.

South Wales Police confirmed this morning more details about Tuesday night's incident.

"A search, which included the police helicopter, was carried out and the man was located safe and well at about 8.35pm."

The spokeswoman added that the man was located on the M4.
