Why a new laptop from Microsoft’s Surface range should be your next upgrade

Surface computers, from laptops to desktop PCs, are unique. They are the only hardware made by the same company that makes the Windows software: Microsoft. It’s little surprise then that they work seamlessly and smoothly.

Within the Surface family, Microsoft delivers a design and device for everyone -  be it a laptop, a tablet or an all-in-one – and are all supported by the power of Windows.

Whether you are working from your home office or kitchen table, furthering your education, or having some much needed downtime gaming or watching a favourite film, Surface provides the power needed to get things done.

Features such as bright, vibrant screens, hi-res touchscreens, HD cameras, plus Dolby® Audio™ for music all play a key part in keeping us connected to our work, school, family and every-day lives.

What’s more, there’s enough variety in the range to ensure there’s one that’s suited to every customer – whether that’s a desktop with a huge touchscreen or a laptop that’s powerful but lightweight.

Introducing the Surface 7 Pro

One of the key products in the range is the Surface Pro 7 from £719.

A two-in-one device, it’s a tablet which has an optional detachable keyboard that also serves as a cover for the display.  The keyboard cover connects magnetically, so it’s easy to remove it when you’re watching a video instead of typing. Altogether, it’s a remarkably flexible combination.

The Surface Pro 7 has a 12.3-inch display, which is big enough for work, or streaming a TV show when you enjoy the downtime you deserve.

However, at under 800g, it’s still impressively light – and super-portable, thanks to its stylish, magnesium unibody design.

More than 10-hours of battery life

All devices in the Surface range are available from the Microsoft Store, which also offers free virtual workshops to help you get to know your purchase (Microsoft)

One of the key hallmarks of the Surface range is a kickstand that folds out of the back of the tablet so you can easily stand it in just the right position.

In fact, the kickstand is so adjustable, it works just as well even if you’re writing on the screen with the advanced Surface Pen stylus. In that case, the kickstand folds until it’s just off horizontal.

Unlike a regular laptop, the Surface Pro 7 has a 5MP camera on the front and an 8MP snapper on the back. The front-facing one isn’t just good for selfies and those video-conferencing calls: you can use it for face authentication, where it unlocks automatically as soon as it recognises you.

What’s more, its battery lasts over 10 hours, which is just the ticket for a full working day and beyond.

You can buy the Surface Pro 7, or others in the range, from the Microsoft Store, which offers free delivery and 60-day return options.  Plus, if you buy a Surface from the store and their price drops within 60 days of your purchase, they’ll refund the difference.

The Store even has free virtual workshops to help you learn about the product, and for one-to-one online sessions with Store associates, on subjects such as working, teaching and learning from home.

And students, NHS Staff and Members of the Armed Forces can save up to 10% when shopping on Store.
