Why a London-bound flight was diverted to Saudi Arabia

  • The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner had been airborne for over six hours when the diversion occurred.
  • The flight landed safely in Jeddah about 2pm GMT, with all passengers and crew confirmed to be unharmed.
  • Air India said the diversion was a precautionary measure and the aircraft is now undergoing technical inspections in accordance with safety protocols.
  • This incident follows another recent Air India flight from Delhi to Vancouver that returned after several hours due to issues with route clearance.
