Why a golfer on the PGA Tour seemed to feel bad about hitting a hole-in-one

Usually when somebody hits a hole-in-one during a round of golf the golfer and everyone around them goes insane.

You run around, share some miss-hit high fives, and do some hooting and hollering. At least I guess you do, because I’ve never hit one but whatever, this isn’t about me.

This is about D.A. Points, who hit an ace during Thursday’s first round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He didn’t go crazy after it went in, instead he seemed to feel ashamed.

Why?

Because right after he hit the shot he was yelling at his ball because he thought he hit a poor shot. But he didn’t, because it went in the hole. And then he felt foolish.

Seriously, you’ll never see a more subdued reaction to a hole-in-one than this one:

Golfers know there’s nothing worse than playing with a buddy who yells at their ball and about how badly they hit it only to then have it turn out to be a great shot. It’s just annoying and everyone in the group immediately has the right to make fun of you for it.

Points knows that, hence the reaction. Which was perfect.
