Why a First bus was abandoned in the middle of the road this morning

A First bus was left blocking a road in Bristol this morning (September 17) after the vehicle lost all power.

Baffled residents spotted the stationary bus in the middle of the road in Patchway.

The driver of the vehicle had seemingly abandoned the bus, which was left in the road for several hours.

One resident tweeted: "You seem to have abandoned a bus since at least 0646 Linnet Close Junction with Coniston Road."

First Bus has confirmed that the driver was forced to abandon the vehicle after it lost power.

Richard Lewis, First West of England operations manager said: “We apologise to any customers or members of the public who may have been inconvenienced by this breakdown which happened at around 5am this morning.

"The vehicle unfortunately could not be moved as it had lost all power.

"The driver reported the breakdown and the vehicle has since been recovered and is undergoing inspections and repairs.

"The driver also returned to the depot and resumed his service with a replacement vehicle.”
