Why a Bristol couple appeared on This Morning naked

A Bristol couple spending a liberating lockdown in the nude are set to take a series of virtual classes with no clothes on.

British Naturism's the Great British Take Off is an event taking place tomorrow (May 16) to encourage more people to strip off and embrace their bodies.

Group members appeared on ITV's This Morning on Friday to advertise the Take Off, including Bristol residents Georgia Williams, 25 and boyfriend Luke Grayland, 23.

Introducing the couple, host Eamonn Holmes said: "Very good to see more of you than we expected."

The pair spoke of how they both found being naked to be a freeing experience that encourages body positivity and confidence.

Georgia said: "I remember when I went to my first event I had a bit of a wake-up call that all of the things you see on social media is not real life.

"Once you see that every single body looks different and they are all great, I think that's a really good thing."

She will be taking naked yoga classes live from her Bristol home on Saturday, and there will also be cookery classes and a Pimms on the Lawn virtual get-together.

The event is raising money for the British Heart Foundation, and also features naked aerobics, life drawing and meditation.

A British Naturism spokesperson said lockdown has seen an "explosion in naked living".

They added: "For many, working from home means working naked, and nude sunbathing seems to be the new national pastime.

"Naturists know that it's only social convention that makes wearing clothes seem essential but people who try it for the first time realise that it feels great.

"Human beings weren't designed to be wrapped up in clothes 24/7 and yet that's often how we are even when it's more sensible not to be."

Advising first-timers, a statement on the organisation's website said: "By all means tell the neighbours, but there is no need to warn them even if you are overlooked.

"So long as you are not revealing yourself with the intention of upsetting people, it's fine."
