Why 42-year-olds are entitled to free train travel between Edinburgh and Glasgow this weekend

ScotRail will be treating all 42-year-olds to free train travel between Scotland's two biggest cities this weekend.

The offer has been launched as the rail operator celebrates their new faster journeys between Edinburgh and Glasgow, via Falkirk High – which take 42-minutes.

It will apply throughout Saturday and Sunday, although passengers will be required identification such as a passport or driving license to prove they're not simply impersonating a 42-year-old.

ScotRail posted on their website: "They say life begins at 40. Well, we beg to differ. For all you luck 42-year-olds, this weekend, we're treating you.

"To celebrate the launch of our 42-minute journey on Express trains between Edinburgh and Glasgow via Falkirk High, all 42-year-olds can travel free on this route on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 June 2019.

"Simply turn up and show your ID to enjoy the journey."

They add that they can even take the wee ones along for just £1 as part of their Kids for a Quid tickets.
