FYI, the way things are these days, you sometimes need a palate cleanser to remind yourself there’s still good in the world. Just that very thing was recently posted on Reddit, showing a group of young boys wearing basketball jerseys ringing a doorbell in Ring camera footage.
Naturally, you might expect the young men to be up to no good. But as two of the boys assure the camera, “Don’t worry, we are not ding dong ditching,” or the prank of ringing a doorbell only to flee before the person inside the house responds.
Young boys love their toys
So what do they want? As the footage shows, one boy approaches the camera and asks, “Is that your Mazda Miata?” pointing toward the car. Finally, a male voice is heard in the clip, and the boys aren’t asking because it’s been vandalized. They just think it’s cool.
“You like it?” the adult voice that answered the door responds to the boys. It’s his son’s car, and so is the Porsche in front of his house, the man explains. They’re convertibles. “He likes to take the top off,” the man says. They went on to chat about their basketball jerseys, as the boys explained that they played a moms-versus-sons game, which they won.
“Tell your son he has cool cars,” one of the boys says before they go on their way. The man says he will and tells the boys to “have fun.” Commenters loved the sweet interaction, noting, “Wholesome plot twist not ding dong ditch ding dong deliver.” Another added, “Plot twist they weren’t ding dong ditching they were ding dong delivering joy.” And finally, one said, “This is America.”
