A north Dublin village is rejoicing today after the area's eyesores were finally removed.
Malahide locals couldn't hide their joy with what residents described as 'the wooden monstrosities' getting the boot once and for all.
The pallets, or 'parklets' as they were called, were erected in New Street to divide cycle lanes much to the disgust of some in the area.
But local group 'Save Malahide Village' confirmed the good news last night bursting into song.
They started the news off by humming "Ding Dong, the pallets are gone".
They added: "The wooden monstrosities (dubbed 'parklets') have been removed from New Street in Malahide.
"Some progress but the road now needs to be re-opened to two way traffic and a proper planning process undertaken."
Last year, New Street in Malahide was pedestrianised even though a campaign by some local residents and businesses managed to get it rescinded.
Fingal County Council plans to limit traffic in towns such as Skerries, Blanchardstown, Malahide, Howth, Balbriggan, and Swords this summer too.
Measures include taking away car spaces to be used as outdoor dining spots.
Now the council is fully pedestrianising the street having learned what works and what doesn't from last year's trial.
