Whole of Dublin shocked and devastated to discover sudden death of famous DJ Matt Corrigan

The whole of Dublin's Inner City has been left heartbroken and saddened after the sudden death of local celebrity DJ Matt Corrigan.

DJ Matt was a very popular figure around the area, spinning music for local residents at parties on the flats and beyond for over three decades.

The famous Dad's sudden death has sent shockwaves around the capital with loved ones and friends sharing their most precious Matt memories on social media just hours after the news emerged.

Councillor Christy Burke said he will be truly missed adding: "Very saddened to hear of the loss of Matt Corrigan this evening. I send my deepest condolences to all of his family at this very sad time.

Famous actor Steven Mangan and mate of Matt added: "So sad hearing the passing of my old pal Matt Corrigan. We started off DJing together over 30 years ago, thoughts are with all the family."

Trying to come to grips with the devastating news, one local said: "Absolutely shocked at the news RIP Matt Corrigan thinking of all the Corrigan family, especially the kids.

"It's so sad but I'll hold on to all of those Great nights partying with you."

Another neighbour added: "Just heard Matt Corrigan has passed away and I'm shocked. I owe Matt a debt of gratitude for the time he helped me when I first bought decks at 15. A true gent thank you for the joy and happiness you brought to so many through your music.

"Thank you deeply for the time and effort you gave me all those years ago in the cottage in summerhill. A true decent skin and a flawless man behind a set of decks."

A third heartbroken mate added: "I'm absolutely shocked I'm writing this. I really couldn't believe the news when I heard it. You were a good friend to me and a top and well respected DJ.

"You started me off on the club scene in town from Mojo's, blind ref to the castle in summerhill. You taught me a lot about being a DJ and you taught me how to win the crowd with your favourites. It was a pleasure to DJ with an absolute legend. RIP My friend."
