Whole Foods Market Brewing Company launches its own line of beers in stores

DALLAS – Whole Foods Market has long been known as a craft beer destination, either for local beers or hard-to-find ales, stouts, porters and lagers from around the country.

Now Whole Foods Market is launching its own line of beers in stores from Whole Foods Market Brewing Company.

Currently, all Texas Whole Foods locations are selling Whole Foods Market Brewing Company’s Double IPA (8.6% ABV) in four packs of 16-ounce cans. Two other styles, a citrus-forward IPA named Wholistic Hazy (6.8% ABV) and the Post Oak Pale Ale (6.1% ABV) are set to be available as well in canned form by the end of this year.

The in-house beer isn’t available on draft for pints or growler fills at the moment, although the Double IPA will likely be offered in those ways in Whole Foods stores with a beer and wine bar in the future.

Heading up the current crop of Whole Foods brews is Chris Shelton, who was living in Italy when he accepted the Houston Whole Foods master brewer position in 2020. Shelton’s a 20-year veteran of professional craft brewing, with stints at Iowa’s Toppling Goliath Brewing Company and The Booth Brewing in Seoul, South Korea.

Whole Foods Market Brewing Company began brewing inside the Houston Post Oak store location in 2014, offering house brews including an inventive-sounding sweet potato weizenbock, and an old ale aged with organic dates, as well as a rotating selection of other Houston beers.
