Who you gonna call? Ghost hunters investigate former West Lothian church for things that go bump in the night

A team of paranormal experts are set to investigate whether a former church in Bathgate is home to things that go bump in the night.

Brave souls are being invited to attend the spooky event at Bathgate Cinema - formerly St David’s Church - to celebrate the premiere of the highly anticipated reboot; Ghostbusters Afterlife.

Members of the West Lothian Paranormal team are hosting an exclusive investigation at the cinema following the screening of the movie, which sees the return of original stars Dan Ackroyd, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson.

They have teamed up with Bathgate Cinema and will have access to the auditoriums, bell tower, cellar and other hidden rooms.

They believe in “keeping things real” and there is no “fakery, trickery or jump scaring”, adding St David’s, built around 1904, has never been investigated before, but there have been signs of paranormal activity.

The Cinema will also screen Ghostbusters Afterlife (Daily Record)

Founding member Tracey Shaw said: “Staff have reported feeling uneasy locking up at night. When we went to view the place there is an area that has distinctive cold spots so interesting to see what is picked up there with the equipment on the night.”

West Lothian Paranormal was started in 2015 as a hobby group to connect like-minded people. As the group and followers have grown it extended the areas of investigating and now cover all of Scotland and parts of England.

Tracey explained: “It’s run by myself and my mother Joyce. I now run The Alternative Witch Hynotherapy in Bathgate. Joyce is our group medium.

Having a clairvoyant as a mother I have been brought up with the paranormal - afterlife being a major part of my life.

“We have conducted many private house investigations and various venues through the years Coming up we have investigations at various places including Barony Theatre, Niddry Street Vaults, Bannockburn House, Stirling Jail and Inveraray Jail.

“We conduct our investigations through a mixture of mediumship then back up findings with our equipment which includes SLS cameras (stick man cameras) Spirt Boxes and Rempods.

We are keen to promote natural ways of spirit divination and our investigations include transfiguration.

“This is a process where spirit can transform onto the face of another person and it is visible through a mirror. Also pendulum boards using a pendulum.

I have a collection of haunted artefacts that I hope to turn into a museum. These include a doll where I have a video of a blue orb coming out of her body.

“This doll has came from a magic and folklore museum.”

The event takes place tomorrow (Friday) from 9pm, for tickets visit here
