Who won The Search? Little Mix crown their support act as BBC show ends

The winners of Little Mix: The Search have now been announced.

The girl group's BBC talent show has been hit by a run of bad luck. Auditions were held last year, with the series all set to make its debut in the spring, before the coronavirus pandemic threw a huge spanner in the works, halting production and forcing its premiere back by months.

Since coming to air in September the show has suffered more setbacks. It's first live show was postponed even further after a COVID-19 outbreak on set. Little Mix member Jade Thirlwall had to judge performances from home after going into self-isolation and then The Search semi-final was pulled from air at the last minute on October 31 as Boris Johnson gave his much delayed lockdown address to the nation.

This meant that the semi and final went out back to back on Friday and Saturday but there was another blow when Jesy Nelson pulled out of the final and Sunday's MTV EMAs due to illness, leaving fans heartbroken.

The four remaining acts - YChange, Since September, Melladaze and Nostalia each gave two performances to impress Little Mix and viewers at home.

While YChange, Since September, Melladaze all received a perfect 100 for their second son from Perrie, Leigh-Anne and Jade, the final result was all based on the public vote.

After they were counted, host Chris Ramsey announced Since September as the winners.

The boyband looked stunned by the result and the Little Mix girls were also left in tears, with Leigh-Anne telling them: "We can't wait to work with you guys."

The result was welcomed by many viewers, while others were gutted that their favourites didn't win.
