Who won the Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier fight? The result of the UFC 264 main event

Dustin Poirier has beaten McGregor by TKO for a second time in succession after a freak accident saw the Dubliner unable to continue after suffering a suspected broken ankle.

Going into the fight the score was 1-1 between the two lightweights, with Dustin Poirier avenging his 2014 loss to McGregor some seven years later in Abu Dhabi.

That was the first knockout loss of McGregor's career, and the Dubliner made it clear after the fight that he wanted to make the trilogy happen.

The bout at the T-Mobile Arena began with lots of kicks in the opening stages from both fighters. It was the American though who landed the best punches early doors before they ended up in a hold that lasted for the final three minutes of the round.

Poirier hit McGregor with a big right on the floor and McGregor struggled to get out of the grappling match. McGregor took a serious of elbows to the head and looked to be in real trouble.

But when he managed to get to his get to his feet right at the end of the round, he swung and missed Poirier and ended up falling backwards and suffering a horrific injury that left him on the canvas unable to get up.

The fight was immediately called off when a doctor realised the severity of the 32-year-old's injury.
