Who won the Bristol South seat in the 2019 General Election? Labour's Karin Smyth reelected

Labour’s Karin Smyth has been reelected to Bristol South.

The Labour Party has held the seat since the 1930s with Ms Smyth first getting elected in 2015.

This time round she received 27,895 votes, decreasing her majority to 9,859 from 15,987 in 2017.

In second place was Conservative candidate Rick Morgan with 18,036 votes.

Voters headed to the polls yesterday (December 12) to vote in the third General Election this country has seen in the past five years.

Overall turnout for Bristol South was 65.9 per cent, up from 65.5 per cent in 2017.

Karin Smyth said: "I will continue to work hard on behalf of everyone in Bristol South.

"I know many people wanted us to win and form a Labour government. I'm obviously disappointed that Labour isn't going to form a Government.

"We haven't gained the trust of people across the country. We're in for a hard five years."
