Who won the Aintree Grand National 2019? The winner announced for the big race

The winner of the Randox Health Grand National 2019 has been crowned at Aintree Racecourse.

Tiger Roll made history being the first horse to win back-to-back Nationals since Red Rum as he sped past the finishing post of the world-famous steeplechase to take home the trophy.

Magic Of Light tried to catch Tiger Roll, but came in second followed by Rathvinden in third.

The Grand National is the world's biggest steeplechases with millions watching across the globe.

30 challenging jumps make the four-mile ride unpredictable and the favourites to win can easily fall at the first hurdles.

In order for a horse to qualify for the race, they need to be over seven-years-old and have been previously placed in a recognised chase of three miles or more.

Last year, in 2018, Tiger Roll and jockey Davy Russell took home the trophy and the one million pound prize.

Number 21 Pleasant Company came in a close second after making a remarkable comeback from behind number 13 Tiger Roll.

Bless The Wings came in third, followed by Anibale Fly in fourth position.

In 2017 it was Derek Fox on One for Arthur who rode to victory across the line and past the finishing post.

Today's race brings the three-day festival to a close as we saw thousands come through the gates at the famous racing grounds.

Ladies Day saw ITV breakfast TV celebrities at Aintree, including This Morning's Alison Hammond and Good Morning Britain's Charlotte Hawkins.

We also saw former Made In Chelsea star Spencer Matthews with wife Vogue Williams , who brought along their baby son Theodore.

Real Housewives of Cheshire star Tanya Bardsley also made an appearance, along with British athlete Denise Lewis.

Hollyoaks babe Nikki Sanderson was also spotted, before taking to Instagram to show off her pastel green suit from Miss Selfridge.

Love Island stars Rosie Williams and Olivia Buckland, fashion presenter Mark Heyes and Ladies Day ambassador Amy Jackson, who recently announced her pregnancy, were also seen enjoying their day at Aintree racecourse.

But one notable absence this year was 'Queen of Aintree' Coleen Rooney, who is currently living in Washington DC with husband Wayne and their four children.

We also had our 2019 Style Award winner crowned when Sue Moon took the accolade wearing a mustard coloured dress from Asos, with a black hat and black shoes.

Sue was overwhelmed with emotion and cried on stage after being announced as the winner yesterday afternoon.
