As the hype around the 2021 series ramps up, ITV viewers are casting their minds back to last year's competition.

The 2020 version of I'm A Celebrity marked the show's 20th anniversary and took place in Abergele in Wales instead of the Australian jungle for the first time ever in its history.

Viewers were blown away by the breathtaking scenery surrounding Gwrych Castle as half the cast arrived at camp via helicopter and the others abseiled down a cliff near Snowdonia. You can read more on this here.

But who was in the 2020 series of I'm A Celebrity and who was crowned the first Queen of the Castle?

Giovanna Fletcher was the first celebrity to win the Welsh version of the series.

The award-winning author was crowned Queen of the Castle in 2020 after beating runner-up Jordan North and Vernon Kay, who placed third, in the final.

Giovanna took the crown from soap actress, Jacqueline Jossa, who won the show in 2019.

Meanwhile, Shane Richie just missed out on a place in the final.

Other campmates in the 2020 series included AJ Pritchard, Mo Farah, Russell Watson, Jessica Plummer, Beverley Callard, Victoria Derbyshire, Ruthie Henshall and Hollie Arnold.

"I'm just blown away, I can't believe it," Giovanna, whose husband Tom Fletcher is currently on Strictly Come Dancing, said at the time.

In a more recent interview on ITV's Lorraine, Giovanna admitted she's having a hard time giving the crown up.

"This time last year you were getting ready to go into the jungle," Lorraine said. "You need to go back and give your crown back now."

"No, that's my door wreath now!" Giovanna exclaimed.

"It's your door wreath?" Lorraine questioned, before adding: "Oh they just need to make another one, I'm sure they will!"

"I was lucky actually because I got to keep my sceptre as well," the author continued. "I'm pretty sure when they are in Australia they can't keep that because they can't fly home with it." You can read more on this here.

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! starts Sunday, November 21 at 9pm on ITV.
