Who won Britain's Got Talent 2019? Colin Thackery tops vote as Wales' Jonathan Goodwin misses out

Pembrokeshire born Jonathan Goodwin has wowed the judges and the public with his magic and daredevil acts.

But on Sunday's final, the father-of-one failed to make the final three in Britain's Got Talent 2019 as Colin Thackery was voted the winner

The stunt performer has been on a number of TV shows and is known for his breathtaking, death-defying tricks - which include setting himself alight while wearing a straitjacket and hanging upside down on a rope.

And in Sunday's final, Jonathan, a single dad to six-year-old Millie, stepped it up a notch and buried himself in one-tonne of gravel while handcuffed and chained and suspended into the air.

At the start of his performance, Jonathan explained to the audience that he would stand in chains in a box on stage, where a tonne of gravel would be released from above into the box, essentially burying him alive.

In order to succeed, he would have to untangle himself and climb to the top of the box, pulling an 'escape rope' to release the gravel.

Audience members including former X Factor judge Cheryl, gasped in horror as time pressed on with no sign of Jonathan emerging from the box.

When Simon Cowell had a strop live on air:

But he eventually managed to complete the stunt, and fans took to Twitter to comment on how the act had left them on the edge of their seats.

The 39-year-old told viewers that the dangerous stunt was actually Millie's idea and it became so dangerous health and safety could be seen hovering on stage nearby.

Brother to BBC Wales presenter Jane Harvey, Jonathan was desperate to win the show so he could have his own show and get up every morning to make pancakes for his daughter.

Speaking after his performance, Alesha Dixon said: "What is wrong with you? It's not good for my nerves.

"You could be the next David Blaine or something, you are brilliant."

Amanda Holden said: "I think your daughter is as mad as you.

"It was the most horrifically brilliant thing to watch."

Simon Cowell added: "What you have done on the two live shows is unbeliveable."

While judge David Walliams joked that he might use the left over gravel to pave his driveway.

Speaking to Ant and Dec, Jonathan said: "The rush that you get when you bury yourself and don't die is brilliant."

Britain's Got Talent winner Colin Thackery (ITV)

Show winner Colin Thackery, along with a spot at the Royal Variety Performance, scooped a cash prize of £250,000.

The 2018 winner was comedian Lost Voice Guy (real name Lee Ridley), a stand-up who performs with a speech synthesiser after being diagnosed with cerebral palsy when he was six months old.
