Who will win Rangers vs Hibs? Our writers make their big game predictions for Premier Sports Cup semi final

All eyes will be on Hampden Park on Sunday - including new Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

The Dutch legend will be in the stand to run the rule over his new charges.

And that means, even if he's not in the dug-out, the Ibrox players will be desperate to impress.

Of course, the chance to book a place in the first domestic cup final of the season should be enough but there is now added motivation to do well.

Hibs will have their own ideas as they look to end a miserable run of results and a period of inactivity due to a Covid outbreak.

It's all set up to be a Premier Sports Cup semi final cracker and who could forget the drama when these sides met at Hampden in the 2016 Scottish Cup final?

If there is even half of the excitement of that day then we're in for a treat.

We've asked our Record Sport writers for their picks ahead of the big one.

Michael Gannon

Gio van Bronckhorst may be in the stands but there will still be a new manager bounce for Gers. Hibs have had a nightmare in the last month and it could be another tough fixture.

Rangers 2 Hibs 0

Scott Burns

Rangers may go in under new management but their players won’t want to slip up with Giovanni van Bronckhorst watching.

Hibs have caused them problems in the past but have been off form and will need to see how they are after their latest Covid outbreak, having not played this month. Martin Boyle and Kevin Nisbet are big threats to any side.

Rangers 2 Hibs 1

Fraser Wilson

Hibs' covid lockdown could work two ways - they could return refreshed and re-energised or Jack Ross' men could be caught cold. I fear it will be the latter. Rangers players are eyeing up a first domestic cup win in a decade and with new boss Gio Van Bronckhorst looking on from the stands a Ryan Kent-inspired performance will be too much for Hibs.

Gavin Berry

Rangers have been rocked by the departure of Steven Gerrard but the international break was a godsend and allowed them time to react.

The appointment of Giovanni van Bronckhorst has gone down a storm with the punters and the Dutchman's presence at Hampden will be a big factor in the game.

It can give the players a boost and help Rangers get through a tough tie with Hibs lack of form and activity due to a Covid outbreak likely to make victory too much for them.

Rangers 3 Hibs 1

Andy Newport

There's a risk Rangers could be left rudderless with Giovanni van Bronckhorst yet to officially take up their reigns from Steven Gerrard and youth team boss Davie McCallum in caretaker command.

But the champions will be desperate to put on a show for their new boss and should prove too strong for a Hibs squad recovering from a Covid outbreak.

Rangers 2 Hibs 0

Steven Mair

Hibs may have been out of action for a few weeks but that's nothing compared to the disruption of Steven Gerrard’s jaw-dropping Rangers exit just days after telling his charges to focus on this very fixture. If Gio van Bronckhorst was in the dugout, and perhaps with a week of training under his belt, I'd think differently. Against caretaker management, however, Jack Ross can prove the big day doubters very wrong.
