Who will win Celtic's clash with Rangers as our writers deliver their predictions

It's an unfamiliar feeling going into the third derby of the Scottish Premiership calendar between Celtic and Rangers with little at stake.

Even in previous years of Parkhead dominance, around this time of year the blue half of Glasgow often still harboured faint hopes that a victory could turn the tide of the title race but this season Steven Gerrard's side wrapped up the title a fortnight ago.

Yet while there's nothing to play for in terms of silverware, don't ever call this fixture a dead rubber.

The visitors to the east end on Sunday lunchtime will have an unbeaten league campaign in their sights as six more games without defeat will see them earn that 'Invincibles' tag, even if Celtic fans and their interim manager John Kennedy believe it would pale in comparison to the serial winners of 2016/17.

Besides that sub-plot, those supporters be hoping for something to be optimistic about going into next season under a new boss and director of football.

Then there's the usual pride and bragging rights up for grabs - here's how our top team reckon the action will unfold.

Keith Jackson

It will be interesting to see how Rangers respond to Thursday night's Europa League exit. But they've bounced back from previous disappointments this season and are likely to do so again. Celtic's pride ought to be stung but do enough of these players really care or even plan to be around for the next campaign?

Celtic will have to up their game from their last outing at Tannadice and there have been few signs that they are capable of doing so. Rangers will have to bounce back from the physical and mental exertions of Thursday but have shown many times this term that they can do that, so I reckon they'll have enough in the tank to win this one.

The pressure is on Celtic to deliver a smidgen of hope for their fans. Rangers will be weary from Thursday’s battle with Slavia Prague. Yet I still can’t see Steven Gerrard’s side dropping their levels to the point they will lose this one. It’s just not been their way this season. A score draw might just keep everyone content - if that’s possible.

Rangers are too strong and Celtic remain too disjointed to damage their old rivals. It won’t be a walkover but Gers will do the damage down the flanks and at set pieces.

Celtic 0 Rangers 2

These games are never meaningless but with Steven Gerrard's men feeling the effects of Thursday's Euro tie and the Hoops just struggling generally this could be a drab affair.

Celtic 0 Rangers 0

Gordon Parks

It may be too little too late for the Hoops but there will be one last Old Firm hurrah as they make a statement for next season and show they are far better than the title race suggested.

Celtic 2 Rangers 0

Scott Burns

Celtic will be fired up with a point to prove but I can see Rangers doing enough to keep their unbeaten Premiership run going. Alfredo Morelos could finally get his first Old Firm goal.

Celtic 2 Rangers 2
