Who will play a fullback role for the Titans in 2019?

There’s been plenty of buzz about what fans would like to see out of the Tennessee Titans offense under Arthur Smith in 2019.

This week, one fan asked team writer Jim Wyatt about the possibility of bringing on a fullback for the 2019 season, and liked what Ahmard Hall did at the position years ago.

Hall is since retired and hasn’t been on the roster for years now, so if the Titans are to use a fullback, it won’t be him. But running back David Fluellen could play a similar role in certain situations.

“Hall won’t be back and in the mix at fullback, but the team will have options to use one occasionally,” Wyatt wrote. “Running back David Fluellen, who has beefed up this offseason, is one of the guys who could fill that role. It won’t be a big part of the offense, but there will be packages with a fullback.”

Last season, Fluellen spent the all but seven games on Injured Reserve, totaling just 16 yards rushing at the end of the year. He totals just 37 yards over a three-year NFL career.

But it is true that Fluellen has paid his dues by spending the past three seasons with the Titans as a backup or on the practice squad, only recently earning a spot on the active roster.

It will be interesting to just what Fluellen’s role looks like in the coming season and how successful he’s able to be with it.
