Who will be named Company of the Year at the North East Business Awards?

Three of the North East’s most dynamic companies will tonight compete to win the top prize at the North East Business Awards.

Tharsus Group, Nice Network and Lexonik are vying for the Company of the Year award having won the category in heats held in Tyneside and Northumberland; Durham, Sunderland and South Tyneside; and Teesside.

Specialist technology and engineering business Tharsus Group has been experiencing significant growth in recent years.

During 2018, its turnover increased by 75% and headcount grew by 40%. Similar growth is expected over the coming years as it works to build on this momentum by delivering operational excellence, continuous improvement and strong employee engagement to achieve long term profitable growth.

By 2022, Tharsus Group plans to build on its position as Northumberland’s largest indigenous employer by doubling the size of the organisation in Blyth, transforming revenues into a £100m turnover a year business and creating a number of new high quality job opportunities.

Telecoms solutions provider Nice Network reported its strongest ever results last year following its rebrand and saw the number of its connections, built up over three decades, increased by 80%.

Nice Network aims to continue growing by increasing and improving the range of its products and services, while maintaining the very highest levels of customer service.

By 2020, the firm expects to have doubled in size, with a turnover exceeding £6m and pre-tax profits of over £500,000. Building long-term relationships with customers, suppliers and its own employees lie at the very heart of the North East firm’s success.

Over the next three years Lexonik plans not only to consolidate and grow its existing customer base and reputation as a high-quality teaching and training provider but also expects exponential growth in new sectors and with new audiences.

It aims to increase numbers benefiting from Lexonik in UK secondary schools from 50,000 pupils in 700 schools being delivered by more than 1,000 trained teachers to a minimum of 70,000 pupils in around 1,000 schools being delivered by more than 1,500 trained teachers.
