American actor Willie Garson, famous for his portrayal of talent agent Stanford Blatch in Sex and the City, has died.
Garson’s fellow Sex and the City stars have led the tributes to him. Cynthia Nixon said he was “a source of light”, while Kristin Davis added that she was “bereft without him”.
Other actors to pay tribute to Garson included Jason Alexander and Ben Stiller.
Who was Willie Garson?
Willie Garson was an actor best known for his role in Sex and the City. Garson’s other TV work included roles in NYPD Blue, Twin Peaks, Quantum Leap, Coach and Monk.
Born William Garson Paszamant in Highland Park, New Jersey, in 1964, Garson also made appearances in series including Cheers, Ally McBeal, Spin City, CSI: Miami and The X-Files.

Garson also did movie work, appearing in films such as What to Do in Denver When You’re Dead, Being John Malkovich, Freaky Friday and There’s Something About Mary, as well as the two Sex and the City movies.
It’s as Stanford Blatch that he will be best remembered. Best friends with lead character Carrie Bradshaw, Blatch is a gay talent agent from a wealthy background who serves as a close and shrewd confidant.
Despite being best known for playing a gay character, however, Garson was heterosexual. He adopted a son, Nathen, in 2009.

Willie Garson died on September 21st after a protracted battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 57 years old.
