Who was Mya-Lecia Naylor? CBBC and Absolutely Fabulous star dies at 16

Mya-Lecia Naylor had an amazing acting career, including a debut on Absolutely Fabulous and prominent roles in popular CBBC sitcoms and dramas.

She sadly died at the age of 16, with her representatives A&J Management, confirming: "It is with the deepest sorrow we have to announce that on Sunday 7th April Mya-Lecia Naylor, very sadly, died.

"Mya-Lecia was hugely talented and a big part of A&J, we will miss her greatly."

The teenager had already accumulated an impressive acting CV, since making her screen debut as a two-year-old as Jane in hit comedy Absolutely Fabulous.

It was another seven years later, in 2011, that Mya-Lecia's career started taking off, playing the lead role in Tati's Hotel.

This was closely followed by voicing Little Red Riding Hood in an episode of Cartoonito Tales.

TV and film work started coming in fast and in 2012, Mya-Lecia appeared in two episodes of The Last Weekend as well as landing the role of Miro in the movie Cloud Atlas.

The following years, in 2013 and 2014, there were roles as Miriam in Code Red and as Moore's daughter in Index Zero.

Mya-Lecia's career really came to prominence when she was chosen to play Fran in CBBC favourite Millie Inbetween.

She stayed in that role from 2014 to 2018 and is the character that Mya-Lecia is most associated with.

Her last role was earlier this year, when she played Mya in CBBC's comedy-drama, Almost Never.

Before that there was a brief foray into radio, with the role of Samantha Reasonable in the play Mr Reasonable.

Mya-Lecia died on April 7 and her cause of death is not yet known.

CBBC released a statement after the sad news emerged.

They said: "We are so sorry to have to tell you that Mya-Lecia, who you will know from Millie Inbetween and Almost Never has, very sadly, died. Mya-Lecia was a much loved part of the BBC Children’s family, and a hugely talented actress, singer and dancer.

"We will miss her enormously and we are sure that you will want to join us in sending all our love to her family and friends. If you would like to share a memory of Mya-Lecia, you can post a comment below."
