Who was Annabelle Neilson? British socialite who 'put some girls together' for Jeffrey Epstein

A British socialite procured girls for Jeffrey Epstein, newly released emails suggest.

Annabelle Neilson, who died of a heart attack aged 49 in 2018, is one of many high-profile people who communicated with Epstein via email after his release from prison in 2009.

There is no indication that Nielson’s circle of celebrity friends were involved with Epstein, but her emails suggest she may have been sourcing women for the convicted child sex offender.

One particular thread of conversation saw Epstein seemingly instruct Ghislaine Maxwell to “reach out” to Ms Nielson.

Two days later, on September 17, 2010, someone who signed the email “Annabelle” wrote to Epstein to say they are “putting a little group of girls together”.

The sender then tells the convicted sex offender that they think she found “the right girl.”

“I am putting a little group of girls together,” the email reads. “Hopefully one of them will have all the right qualitiesyou desire. wish I was twenty years younger and could speak French!!!

“I have to say that a few of my girls, who would be perfect for the job but are unfortunately past their sell by date, would of all dropped their husband and almost children for the job when I asked them.

“You know I've just had a spark of genius while writing this, I think I may have the right girl Can't wait to see you, I think I'm going to take you on a little studio adventure to, not to long as I know you get bored easily!!!!”

The sender goes on to thank Epstein for letting them stay, then speaks about having more fun together in London.

The message ends with, “lots of love, Annabelle,” which is how some of the late socialite’s unredacted emails were also signed off.

Epstein responds: “i appreciate the effort ----and you.”

Elsewhere, messages show that Ms Nielson, known as the muse of Alexander McQueen, was also spending time with Epstein. In an August 2010 email to Lord Mandelson, Epstein writes that Ms Nielsen and Italian businessman Eduardo Teodorani were with him.

In later correspondence, Epstein emails Ms Neilsen when she was in Paris, asking if she had “any cute friends”.

Ms Neilson then suggests, “How about Davina,” before later adding: “If I think of anyone suitable.... will let u know.”

The socialite, who worked as a model and frequented London’s celebrity scene with friends like Kate Moss, also spoke about buying art with the convicted sexual predator, among other emails.

In another email chain, she asks Epstein for a favour, helping a contact, Eric Wright, get access to American Apparel. And in other emails, a redacted email address signed off “Annabelle” asks Epstein “how are you and all the girls?”

Ms Nielson is among countless famous people named in the latest tranche of three million Epstein files.

Other prominent figures who have been identified as communicating with Epstein even after he was released from prison after serving a sentence for soliciting underage sex include Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s wife, Sarah Ferguson.

Lord Mandelson is also facing mounting criticism and this week quit the House of Lords after the extent of his communication with the convicted paedophile emerged in the emails.

Who was Annabelle Nielson?

Annabelle Nielson was a fixture of the London party scene throughout the 2000s.

In 1995 she married British banking scion Nat Rothschild, the 5th Baron Rothschild, in Las Vegas but their relationship was short-lived.

By 1998, they had divorced, with reports at the time stating they had signed a confidentiality agreement promising never to discuss the marriage.

Once referred to as “Mrs McQueen”, Ms Nielson shared a close friendship with the designer Alexander McQueen and walked in a number of fashion shows for designers including John Galliano.

She also often partied with models, including Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell, and has been pictured with stars such as Sir David Beckham at celebrity events.

Ms Nielson also turned her hand to TV in 2014, when she starred on the reality show Ladies of London. The socialite starred in two seasons of the Bravo show that followed her life in London.

When McQueen died in 2010, Ms Neilson also wrote to Epstein, telling the financier that she was “having a bit of a bad time.”

“My best friend-brother Lee McQueen died a week ago and I have not been able to think much on the work front,” she said in an email to Epstein.

In 2018, Ms Nielson was found dead at her £3.1 million home in Chelsea, just days after she attended the wedding of her ex-boyfriend and friend, Edward Spencer Churchill.

Her sister, Camilla Neilson, confirmed in a statement at the time that she died of a heart attack, and her death wasn’t treated as suspicious.
