Who Wants to Be a Millionaire viewers confused as series returns

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire returned to ITV tonight, but fans were left with questions.

The series, hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, sees an array of contestants take to the hot seat in a bid to win £1 million.

The first contestant up was recruitment consultant Kane, who struggled with his early questions and had to turn to Jeremy for help to win £1,000.

But viewers watching were quick to question why there was an audience in the studio under coronavirus measures.

Previous series filmed during the pandemic have seen an empty audience, with crew members having to fill in with the claps and cheers.

Lots of viewers assumed this series would be the same, but it was actually a repeat, which explains why the audience was packed in.

And many viewers took to social media to comment on the difference.

Luke Mackay said: "Why is the studio rammed?"

Harlingdave said: "Didn’t realise it was a repeat until ask the audience."

Lewis said: "Got excited as I thought this was a new series, but then saw the studio audience."

JC said: "A repeat episode when an audience was allowed and there was no social distancing."
