Who Wants to be a Millionaire player's 'silly risk' costs him £93,000

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire fans were left stunned over a player's answer on tonight's show.

Phil Coleman flew through questions while sitting opposite host Jeremy Clarkson in the famous black chair on the smash-hit quiz show.

But the IT director, from Bristol, was thrown by the £125,000 question and used a life line to ask Jeremy for help.

The question was: "Which of these historical figures was the oldest at the time of their execution?"

The options were: Joan of Arc, Mary, Queen of Scots, Anne Boleyn and Marie Antoinette.

After much deliberation, Phil chose Marie Antoinette which was the wrong answer. His decision to play sent him home with his safety net of £32,000.

Viewers of the show took to Twitter to question why Phil took a gamble if he didn't know the answer.

One said he had "lost his head", while another described it as a "silly risk" to take.

One viewer said: "DON'T gamble your money. Take it home!!! #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire"

Another wrote: "You win some you lose some. But £32k is still a heap of money #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire."
