Who Wants to Be a millionaire? How to see Quiz the play on its UK Tour

A hit TV show has been turned into a major play and it is now touring around the UK.

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, hosted by Chris Tarrant, had a primetime slot on ITV, and it made millionaires of its contestants by asking a series of questions which got progressively harder.

The show made headlines when former British Army major Charles Ingram was accused of coughing his way to the jackpot and this is the focus of a new stage play.

Following a sell-out run at Chichester Festival Theatre, James Graham's smash-hit play transferred to London's West End with sensational reviews in 2018 and now it is back on tour for the end part of 2023 - and is coming back to London via Bromley.

In 2020, millions tuned in to see the three-part ITV adaptation starring Michael Sheen, Matthew Macfadyen and Sian Clifford.

The play is set between Southwark Crown Court and the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? studio.

What is the play about and who is in it?

The play tells both sides of the story, from the studio and from the contestant's perspectives, and looks at the real-life time on the show when one contestant was accused of trying to cheat their way to the jackpot.

The play shows both the defence and prosecution of Charles Ingram, played by Lewis Reeves, and his wife Diana, played by Emmerdale actress Charley Webb.

Impressionist Rory Bremner stars as Chris Tarrant in the show.

Where is Quiz touring?

The tour has gone all over the country. The next dates are in Norwich, and will run from October 31 to Saturday, November 4 at the Theatre Royal before coming down to London.

The play will then go on at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley from November 6 to November 11 before moving on to Canterbury from November 15 to November18.

The last shows of the year will be held in Bath at the Theatre Royal from November 20 to November 25.

How can I get tickets?

Londoners wanting to get a glimpse of the hit show are best off going to nearby Bromley where tickets are still available.

There will be two shows a day at 2.30pm and 7.30pm and tickets cost between £23 and £48. Click here for availability and to buy.
