Who Wants To Be A Millionaire hopeful loses £7,000 after refusing to use lifelines

A Who Wants To Be A Millionaire contestant left viewers scratching their heads after she refused to use her all-important lifelines.

Hopeful quizzer Bhupinder Kaler went home with just £1,000 after she answered a question on a whim because she wanted to save her phone-a-friend lifeline.

When host Jeremy Clarkson posed the question: "The term Luddite originally applied to disgruntled workers in which industry?

"Farming, mining, textile, or ceramics?" Bhupinder went with her gut, but unfortunately, it didn't end well.

With £7,000 already in her pocket and one step closer to bagging £16,000, the frazzled contestant lost it all when she answered the question incorrectly.

Afterward, Jeremy quizzed the solicitor on why she didn't use her lifelines to help her go further in the show.

"I should have used my lifelines. I really regret that now,” she admitted before departing the studio.

"Yes, you should have, that's what they’re there for," Jeremy agreed.

Following the explosive episode, fans of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire flocked to Twitter to share their thoughts on Bhupinder's unusual decision.

“Why would you go on the show if you’re not going to bother using the lifelines?” one confused fan pondered.

“I don’t know whether she was trying to come across as extra smart or whether she just made a rookie mistake.

"Either way, I wouldn't like to be in her position now," another chimed in.

Meanwhile, a third echoed: "Why on earth would you gamble your money when you have the option to take your money and go?"

Although she didn't manage to bag a higher cash prize, the Londoner still walked away with £1,000 after her short-lived stint on the game show.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire continues next Sunday at 8PM on ITV.
