Who Wants To Be A Millionaire contestant uses last lifeline on tense £1m question

The new series of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? hosted by Jeremy Clarkson almost had its first £1million winner on Sunday night's show.

Davyth Fear, who lives in Caernarfon, walked away with £500,000 after an impressive run on the ITV show.

Clarkson made a number of quips about Davyth's love of Welsh, including stating he had spent too much time learning the language when he stumbled on a question about films.

Davyth used his second lifeline - ask the audience - on his penultimate question, which saw him breeze calmly through to the last question.

The programme's Twitter account asked if he'd just pulled off the largest successful 'ask the audience ever.

He got to the £1m question with one lifeline left - phone a friend - but didn't feel confident enough to risk the big money prize.

Lucky for him that he walked away, as the answer he was veering towards was incorrect, so he would have walked away with more than £400,000 less.

How to apply to be on Who Wants to be a Millionaire

And people on Twitter thought it was a brilliant move.

However, it looks like the show got mixed up with Davyth's home, confusing Caernarfon with Carmarthen.

Would you have risked the money or walked away with £500k? Let us know in the comments.
