Who Wants to Be a Millionaire contestant loses £93k as Jeremy Clarkson's 'desperately sorry'

Jeremy Clarkson said he was 'desperately sorry' for a Who Wants to Be a Millionaire contestant as she lost £93,000.

Sarah Knapper from Kennington was hoping to win a large amount of money, saying she would love a fancy honeymoon.

The solicitor stormed through the first seven questions in just 15 minutes, not using any lifelines.

But Sarah came slightly unstuck over a question about Concorde's last commercial flight.

Eventually, she selected the correct answer, but she used her 'Ask the Host' and ' 50/50' lifeline.

Sarah was also forced to use her 'Ask the Audience lifeline in the next question.

However, it looked like she might have a chance at winning the big £1million, as she successfully answered everything up to question 13 out of 15.

For £250,000 Jeremy asked: "What body of water connects the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean?"

The options were either A) Windward Channel, B) Yucatan Canal, C) San Bernardino Channel and D) Campeche Bay.

However, Sarah was unsure about the answer.

Deciding to use her last lifeline, Sarah phoned her friend Barbara, who suggested the Windward Channel.

Selecting 'A' as her final answer, Jeremy informed Sarah that she had just lost £93,000 as the correct choice was the Yucatan Canal.

Jeremy said: "I am desperately sorry as I do love a gambler and I have thoroughly enjoyed you being here."
