Who trained and who missed out ahead of Barcelona friendly - Chelsea training in Japan

Frank Lampard and his Chelsea team were back on the training pitch on Sunday morning in Japan following their defeat against Kawasaki Frontale on Friday.

With the Blues training at NHK Spring Mitsuzawa Football Stadium in Yokohama on Thursday afternoon, there was a change of location as the team were put through their paces at NACK5 Stadium in Saitama.

Tammy Abraham missed the session ahead of the club's first game of their pre-season tour of the country a couple of days ago, before missing the match against the J League side through tonsillitis.

However, he was back on the training pitch on Sunday as he rejoined his teammates ahead of the friendly against Barcelona.

Abraham appeared back to his usual self as he went all in at training with the rest of the squad.

Training in Saitama also saw the return of Kepa Arrizabalaga after he also missed the match against Kawasaki Frontale through illness.

The Spaniard was one of the first out on the pitch at the small stadium and he headed off to train with his fellow goalkeepers as the outfield players were put through their paces separately.

As good as it was for Frank Lampard and his coaching staff to have the duo back on the pitch, N'Golo Kante didn't take part in the session.

The Frenchman was involved in training on Thursday but it was a bit-part role.

Taking part in the warm up and then a drill with 10 of his teammates, the World Cup winner trained separately for the rest of the time due to the knee injury that has troubled him since May.

Absent for the match on Friday against Kawasaki Frontale, Chelsea have since issued an update on the player's fitness following his absence from training.

"N’Golo Kante has travelled back to the UK to continue his rehabilitation for an injury connected to the knee problem he sustained at the end of last season," read a statement on the club's Twitter page.

Chelsea face Manchester United on the opening weekend three weeks today and Lampard will hope to have his key midfielder back by then.
