Who The Fuck Is Madeline? David Harbour’s Mistress Speaks Out After Lily Allen’s Album

If, like me, you spent the weekend fixated on who Lily Allen was referring to when she referenced her partner’s mistress, Madeline, on her new album West End Girl — well, it looks like we might just have an answer.

The release of Allen’s fifth studio album on Friday sent all of us into a tizzy with its no-holds-barred look into the pop star’s tumultuous five-year marriage to her ex-husband and Stranger Things star David Harbour

But in between all the seeming references to their open marriage and mentions of butt plugs (yes, butt plugs), the buzziest morsel from West End Girl was Allen’s direct name-drop of Madeline, the mistress who is mentioned on the tracks “Tennis” and “Madeline”.

Now, a woman claiming to be Madeline has come forward, and it’s supposedly a 34-year-old costume designer named Natalie Tippett

Who is the Madeline that Lily Allen believes David Harbour cheated with?

Tippet, who worked in the costume department of Harbour’s 2021 film We Have A Ghost, shared her reaction to Allen’s album in a recent interview with the Daily Mail, saying she has “of course… heard the song” but has “a family and things to protect”.

The Daily Mail reports that Tippet, a single mother from New Orleans, began an alleged affair with Harbour while filming the Netflix movie, culminating in the actor flying her out to his home in Atlanta, allegedly without Allen’s knowledge.

“Of course I’ve heard the song,” Tippet said of “Madeline” while reportedly rolling her eyes.

“But I have a family and things to protect. I have a two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, and I understand this is going on,” she added.

Tippet went on to say that being name-checked on the album was “a little bit scary for me”, but stopped short of digging deeper into the details, including whether Allen — as mentioned in the song — reached out to her via text messages after discovering their alleged affair

“I just don’t feel comfortable talking about it at the moment,” Tippet said.

It comes as fans continue to feverishly dissect “Tennis”, which recounts how Allen discovered shady texts on her partner’s phone, prompting the repeated lyric, “who the fuck is Madeline?”

Then, on the follow-up track “Madeline”, Allen reveals she reached out to the namesake mistress to get the deets on their affair, including asking her “how long has it been going on?” and “is it just sex or is there emotion?”.

While there were rumours throughout their marriage — including Allen reportedly discovering Harbour’s infidelity while sleuthing on the celebrity dating app Raya —  her new album leaves little doubt that cheating was at play.

Of course, Allen having poetic licence means all of it could be only loosely inspired by Harbour, but where’s the fun in that?
