Who sings the John Lewis Christmas advert 2019?

It's the TV moment of magic that everyone has been waiting all year for - the John Lewis Christmas advert.

Year after year the retailer tries to top what they did last time to ignite festive spirit across the nation.

We've had a man on a moon, a special Elton John appearance, and now this year, we're introduced to Excitable Edgar the dragon.

But what is the soundtrack and who is singing it?

The two-and-a-half minute advert sees the overexcited dragon with pal Ava in the run up to Christmas as their village sets up decorations.

He can't help but accidentally set things on fire, including the village's grand Christmas tree.

The poor dragon flees in embarrassment, close to tears, and locks himself up so he can't bother anyone else.

However, his human companion Ava coaxes him out to celebrate the big day - where he actually comes in handy in setting alight the Christmas pudding.

The heart-warming narrative is of course backed by a passionate power ballad - 'Can't Fight This Feeling' - originally sung by REO Speedwagon.

Yet as with all John Lewis Christmas adverts it's a cover version, this time sung by Bastille's Dan Smith.

The 33-year-old is the lead singer and main songwriter of the band, which rose to fame with their 2013 hit 'Pompeii'.

Bastille are still together and released their most recent album, Doom Days, earlier this year.

The Christmas advert will officially debut on TV this Saturday night on ITV during X Factor: Celebrity.
