Who should play at Glastonbury 2013?

Emily Eavis, co-organiser of the Glastonbury festival, tweeted on Friday morning asking her followers to suggest acts they would like to see play the event in 2013.

Responding to other tweets, she went on to reveal that the Stone Roses would definitely not be playing, but the Waterboys might be.

Eavis told the Guardian: "We spend so much time around the kitchen table thinking about the lineup – it's important to know what people actually want to see. Because of the the year off there are a lot of ideas – two years' worth!

"It's now that time of year when we get stuck into bookings – we're aiming to have most of the big slots filled by Christmas. "

At Glastonbury 2011 (the last one before the festival took a break this year), headliners included U2, Coldplay and Queens of the Stone Age, appealing very much to a mainstream rock audience, while Sunday night on the main stage was headlined by Beyoncé, continuing a trend for booking the occasional prominent pop act in a high-profile slot.

Glastonbury is, of course, about much more than the main stage headliners – over the course of three days hundreds of acts will play across dozens of stages.

Tickets go on sale at 9am on Sunday 7 October 2012 – and those wishing to buy them have until 5pm this Sunday to register.

If you're planning to attend – or just planning to stay at home and watch it on TV – who would you like to see play?
