It took four weeks but the Pittsburgh Steelers finally got a win on Monday night. A significant factor in getting the win was the play of the Steelers running backs. James Conner and Jaylen Samuels both have highly productive games but in different ways. Granted the Steelers were forced to be rather unorthodox in their rushing attack and it isn’t realistic to think this is sustainable for a full season.
So when the Steelers eventually have to settle into a run game that features less wildcat and jet sweeps, which running back should be featured to give the Steelers the best chance to win?
A big part of why we are even having this conversation is how much the offensive line has struggled. In making a decision like this it is important to factor in which back can operate more efficiently when the offensive line isn’t playing its best.
