Who’s the most likely Viking to get cut or traded?

Bill Barnwell from ESPN (and formerly Grantland where he did some GREAT work) put together every team’s most likely candidate to be traded or released from each team after the draft.

There are some surprises, like a former Pro Bowl running back and a wide receiver the Cowboys signed just a year ago.

Barnwell’s pick for the Vikings wasn’t much of a surprise at all. It was 2016 first-round pick Laquon Treadwell. Treadwell has been a massive disappointment for the Vikings throughout his three-year career, catching just 56 passes for 517 yards and a touchdown.

With the Vikings signing Jordan Taylor and drafting two wide receivers in the second round, along with drafting pass-catching tight end Irv Smith Jr., the team has shown how much confidence it has in Treadwell.

(Hint: Not much at all.)

Where it gets tricky, however, is that the Vikings would have to eat more than $3.1 million per Spotrac to cut Treadwell, who is due just over $1.8 million. Just from an economic standpoint, it feels like the Vikings would just keep Treadwell as the fifth or sixth receiver and let him become a free agent in 2020.

We’ll see.
