Distribution: Online retailer Amazon is creating 900 new jobs in Rugeley, Staffordshire. A new processing centre will begin operating in September and will be fully staffed by the end of next year, reports the Telegraph. The new jobs will be a mixture of permanent and temporary roles.
Construction: Around 200 jobs will be created if plans to build a new biomass handling and storage facility at the Drax power station go ahead, reports the Selby Times. Drax Power Limited aims to build the facility to store organic material derived from plants and vegetables and used to create sustainable energy. During construction, which is expected to last 30 months, around 200 new jobs would be created. Once completed, the facility in north Yorkshire would employ 15 people.
Hospitality: Travelodge is going to create 1,300 new jobs across 43 new hotels which are currently under construction. The budget hotel chain said 180 jobs were available immediately across a range of new hotel openings including Birmingham airport, Bristol, Northwich, Morecambe and Manchester. The company is looking for receptionists, housekeepers, cleaners and cafe assistants, reports the Telegraph.
Technical: Anglian Water is looking for up to 40 new technicians to look after its growing network of wastewater pipes. The roles will be based across the Anglian Water region, which covers the east of England and Hartlepool. The new staff will make up the teams that care for a complex network of underground pipes and pumps, reports the Northants Evening Telegraph.
Retail: Pets at Home is to create 700 new full and part-time jobs this year, as the chain plans to open 25 new stores and to open a new £5m distribution centre in Northampton, reports the Guardian.
Leisure: Around 100 jobs are being created in Teesside at a new casino which is due to open this year. Leisure company Rank Group has begun recruiting staff for its new Grosvenor G Casino which is being built in Stockton, reports nebusiness.co.uk.
