Who's recruiting - Engineering jobs at Siemens

Renewable energy: Engineering and technology firm Siemens is creating up to 340 green engineering jobs in Manchester, reports The Telegraph. Both graduates and experienced professionals are being sought by the company from around the UK and Europe. The work will be focused on the design and building of systems to transfer energy from offshore windfarms to national power grids, according to the BBC.

Call centre: PC and printer manufacturer Hewlett Packard is creating 170 jobs with a new call centre in Gateshead. The firm said it chose this location because of the area's skills base and due to callers responding positively to a north-east accent. Staff at the new centre will handle a range of customer service and technical support calls, reports the BBC.

IT: Computer company Dell plans to create 150 jobs at its cloud computing operations in Dublin and Limerick over the next two years. Recruitment has already begun for software engineers at the company cloud computing research and development centre in Dublin. Dell is also seeking IT architects, engineers and developers for its solution centre in Limerick, reports The Irish Times.

Software: A Belfast-based IT company is creating 72 new posts in the city over the next three years. The new jobs at Micro Focus will be in software development support and sales, reports the BBC. The company specialises in the development of advanced enterprise software.

Financial services: A company which specialises in buy-to-let mortgages is creating up to 70 new jobs in Solihull, according to the Birmingham Post. Paragon is creating the new roles as it expands buy-to-let lending, reopens its consumer finance arm and takes on the management of loans for other banks.

Railway: Train operator ScotRail plans to create 69 new jobs to oversee the running of automated ticket gates being installed at four stations in Glasgow. The 42 full-time and 27 part-time workers will monitor the gates at Anderston, Argyle Street and Charing Cross stations, along with both levels of Glasgow Central, reports the BBC.
