Apprenticeships: The Co-operative Group is creating 2,000 apprenticeships over the next three years. The company's new £9m apprenticeship academy will help to equip under 25s with transferable skills and qualifications, reports The Telegraph. The apprentices will train in one of the group's businesses, ranging from food and legal services to pharmacy and farming, with funeral industry apprenticeships available as well, according to the Shropshire Star.
Financial services: A global financial services firm has announced it will create 60 new jobs in Scotland. The new workers will be added to the back office administration team at BNY Mellon in Edinburgh, according to Herald Scotland. The firm provides companies and individuals with investment management expertise and investment servicing solutions, reports the BBC.
Hospitality: Pizza Hut will create 5,000 jobs by more than doubling its chain of delivery outlets by 2020, reports the Daily Star. This year the company plans to open 40 new stores and recruitment of chefs, delivery drivers and franchise partners has already started, reports The Grapevine Online.
Retail: BrightHouse, the UK's largest retailer specialising in selling goods to customers on credit, has announced plans to create around 2,000 jobs. The company, which sells furniture, homeware and electrical items, has announced plans to nearly treble its number of stores from 230 to potentially 650, reports the Express & Star. The firm also expects to create jobs by opening warehouses to supply the new stores.
Call centre: A call centre company due to open in August will create 600 jobs in Cardiff. A major recruitment drive will begin shortly for customer support, in-bound sales and administrative staff. Serco's new office, which will be operated by The Listening Company, will manage sales and customer service activity for a range of clients, reports Wales Online.
Marketing internships: Recruitment agency Stopgap Marketing is offering graduates the chance to apply for a paid six-week internship this summer with one of their clients.
