Who's recruiting: 1,000 jobs at steel plant

Manufacturing: Recruitment will start this month for up to 1,000 workers required to restart steel making in the north-east, according to the Northern Echo.

IT: Tyneside company Sumlock Electronics is creating 50 new jobs over the next six to 12 months, including posts for apprentices, reports the Evening Chronicle.

Research and development: A new factory will create 170 jobs at NVC Lighting Technology Corporation in the west Midlands, says the Birmingham Mail.

Hospitality: The Sojourn Hotel Group says it expects to create 40 jobs through the launch of a new boutique hotel in York, reports The Press.

Distribution: Hundreds of jobs are set to be created with the opening of a new £25m distribution centre by The Co-operative Group in Lanarkshire, according to STV.

Retail: Discount retailer Poundland is to create around 180 new jobs through an expansion into Ireland, reports Recruiter.

Hospitality: ThisIsHampshire.net reports that Bristol-based bar chain Loungers is opening a new outlet in Southampton, creating 20 jobs. Vacancies include a general manager, assistant manager, head chef, junior chefs and servers.
