Who’s next at safety for the Cardinals after the release of D.J. Swearinger?

The Arizona Cardinals announced the release of veteran safety D.J. Swearinger on Monday, who played nearly every snap of the first four games of the season. Now the Cardinals have a hole in the secondary.

He had not played particularly well this year but now they have no real starting experience at the position.

Head coach Kliff Kingsbury said three different players will be given the opportunity. Draft picks Deionte Thompson and Jalen Thompson and veteran Chris Banjo will have the opportunity.

Both of the Thompsons are rookies. Bajo has been with the team only a week.

Kingsbury is not worried about the lack of experience. Deionte has already seen playing time. He probably will be the first given the chance.

The situation is not ideal. However, considering the lack of playmaking and the lack of physicality from Swearinger, could it be much worse?

The Cardinals will have their hands full this weekend against a Cincinnati Bengals team that has amassed a lot of passing yards.
